The ABWM Foundation celebrates the 10th Annual Wound Healing Awareness Month (WHAM!) this June, marking a decade of raising awareness about chronic wounds affecting 6.5 million Americans and advancing the vital work of certified wound care specialists.
Certified Wound Care Specialists Week
June 8–12, 2026
With treatment costs exceeding $25 billion annually and 80% of wounds preventable through timely intervention, WHAM 2026 features the Foundation's most comprehensive social media campaign to date. The month-long initiative includes Certified Wound Care Specialists Week (June 8-12), honoring CWCA®, CWS®, and CWSP® professionals who set the standard in patient care.
"WHAM has grown from a simple awareness campaign to a national movement that empowers certified specialists, educates patients, and transforms lives," said Dr. Joseph McCulloch, Chair of the ABWM Foundation Board of Trustees. "This milestone year represents our unwavering commitment to excellence in wound care."
Throughout June, the ABWM Foundation will engage the wound care community across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram with weekly themes, interactive polls, photo challenges.
